Ms. Hemphill was born & raised in Clover and was part of the first integration group in the Clover School District. Ms. Hemphill has written a book, "Sharecropper", which is part memoir and part history lesson of the time.

• Entrepreneur of the Year Award 1994
• Selected to work on the Whitehouse Conference on Small Business under President Bill Clinton
