Book Signing with Mable Hemphill

The Town of Clover welcomes Clover native Ms. Mable Hemphill on Friday, February 24, for an exclusive book signing.
Ms. Hemphill was born & raised in Clover and was part of the first integration group in the Clover School District. Ms. Hemphill has written a book, "Sharecropper", which is part memoir and part history lesson of the time.


Take a moment to review some of Ms. Hemphill's accolades from her volunteer efforts:

• NAACP AWARD for her work on homelessness and race relations 
• ECKERD DRUG STORES SALUTE TO 100 WOMEN for her work on homelessness and women’s issues 
• CITY OF GASTONIA North Carolina for her work in volunteerism to combat homelessness 
• GASTON COUNTY for her work in volunteerism to combat homelessness and women’s issues
• CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CITY OF GASTONIA AND GASTON COUNTY as BUSINESS ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR for her work in starting the Minority Business Development Corp which assisted all women and minorities in starting their own small business 
• Entrepreneur of the Year Award 1994
• Selected to work on the Whitehouse Conference on Small Business under President Bill Clinton
