Hurricane Florence - Updated 9-14-18

As Hurricane Florence hits the North Carolina coast, Clover citizens need to prepare now for the rain and wind that is expected to impact our area over the weekend.
PERSONAL PREPAREDNESS
  • Put together a kit of water, food, flashlights and batteries, medications and other necessities.  Click HERE for other preparedness tips.
  • Plan for your pets too.
  • Verify contact information of your family, friends and neighbors.
  • Keep phones charged.  
  • Secure outdoor furniture, garbage and recycling bins and other items that could blow into the road, your house or your neighbor's house.
  • Prepare buildings in low-lying, flood prone areas for flooding.
TRAVEL TIPS
  • Avoid low-lying, flood prone areas.  Hurricane Florence is expected to produce a lot of rain.  Flooding should be expected.
  • Turn Around Don't Drown.  Do not attempt to drive across flood water that is moving or looks to be 6" or more deep.

REPORT POWER OUTAGES - Do NOT call 9-1-1 or the Clover Police Department to report a power outage.
  • Duke Energy: 1-800-POWERON (800-769-3766) or by texting OUT to 57801. To register for outage alerts, text REG to 57801. To check the status of outages, text STATUS to 57801. SHELTER:

The American Red Cross will open the Emergency Shelter at First Baptist Church of Clover at Noon on September 14, 2018.  Persons planning to use the shelter should bring the following:  Bedding, Clothing, Medications, Personal Toiletries, child's stuffed animal/toy or blanket, personal emergency kit.

  • United Way's 2-1-1:  Available in 180 languages 24/7 by dialing 2-1-1 or visiting http://www.sc211.org/ 
  • FEMA: Visit fema.gov and ready.gov for information.

REPORTING STORM DAMAGE:

  • Town of Clover:  Call Clover Police Department at 803-222-9494 to report road issues such as downed trees and limbs.
  • York County Emergency Management: Call 803-326-2300, visit at yorkcountyoem.com  for storm damage information and to report damage such as downed trees in the road. Follow on Twitter: @YorkCountyOEM and York County Gov @YorkCountySCGov for updates.

  • To report a traffic light out, call Clover Police Department at 803-222-9494.

CLOSURES AND CANCELLATIONS:

  • Town of Clover Recreation:  Practices and games scheduled for Saturday, September 15, have been cancelled. 
  • Clover Schools:  Visit the Clover School District website and/or Facebook for information about school closure and cancellations.  Clover Schools are closed on Friday, September 14.
