Council Approves Changes to Dog Registration and Open Burning

At the October 11 meeting, Town Council adopted several changes to ordinances related to dog registration and open burning.

Council repealed the requirement for annual dog registration and proof of rabies vaccination.  Previously, all dogs in the town limits were required to be registered annually by showing proof of rabies vaccination.  Annual dog registration will no longer be required.

Council also approved two major changes to open burning.  A permit will no longer be required for recreational fires in an enclosed container such as a fire pit or burn barrel.  Residents of the Town are still required to obtain a permit for open burning, i.e. burning yard debris like leaves and limbs outside of an enclosure, but open burning is no longer limited to the first and third weeks of the month.  Open burning with a Burn Permit is now allowed at all times between the hours of 9am and 6pm.
