The Public Works Department provides curbside collection of household garbage. Residential customers are collected weekly. All solid waste is taken to the York County Landfill for disposal. Effective January 1, 2015, the Town will only supply service to non-residential customers who can not accommodate a commercial dumpster.
The Town crews pick up bulky items as needed, but do not regularly collect white goods (appliances). Also, the Town no longer collects e-waste such as TV's, computers and other electronics, on a regular basis.
Each May, the Town sponsors a Spring Clean Week during which the town will collect some items not normally collected, including tires, paint, old batteries, etc.
Yard wastes are collected and ground for use as mulch or taken to the York County Landfill.
The residential fee for garbage, recycling and yard waste services is $16/month. For residences that request an additional roll-out container, there is a one time fee of $100 plus the $16 monthly service fee.
Per Ordinance 20-14, which was adopted on December 14, theTown will stop garbage roll out service to all commercial customers as of
February 1, 2021. This includes both businesses and churches.
