Clover is positioned within the I-85 corridor near the midway
point between two termini, the Raleigh-Durham area to the north and the Atlanta area to the south. Access to I-85 is provided via Highway 321, Highway 55 to Highway 161 and Highway 55 to the newly expanded Highway 5. Highway 5 also provides access to Interstate 77 through Rock Hill, SC. York County implements a 1-cent sales tax, Pennies for Progress, for transportation improvements which has helped ensure quick, safe modes of transportation throughout the county.
The East-West Gaston Connector, or Garden Parkway, is a proposed toll road in North Carolina that will connect I-85 just east of Kings Mountain to I-485 near the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The “Preferred Route” shows a toll entrance on Highway 321 about 10 minutes from the center of Clover. This project, which is still in the planning stages, will provide additional, easy access to major transportation facilities.
Clover is located with 28 miles of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Charlotte Douglas ranks as the nation's 16th busiest airport in operations, 19th in passengers and 35th in cargo. It serves 1.5 million people in an area that includes all or part of 18 counties in North and South Carolina.
